Creation to Christ...

While studying the Ancient world—Creation to the Resurrection— we introduce the foundational principles of history as revealed in Scripture that pave the way to understanding the redemptive history of God and His plan for man. The most exciting part of this study “is the weaving of Bible history with world history.”

Bible – In Year One, as students read from Genesis to Malachi, they will also learn the nine Bible eras (along with the people and events) and geography of the Old Testament.

History – The Foundations Humanities Program will feature, as its core text, The Mystery of History Year One – Creation to Christ. This chronological study of history along with systematic review, timelines, interactive Internet enhancements, Power Point presentations and hands on projects will lay a firm foundation for understanding ancient cultures and the church.

Literature – Correlated to history with outstanding, award winning children’s literature, the read aloud/read alone program will go beyond simply reading. Classroom instruction will gently guide students through the basics of literature analysis, story elements and how to use them to effectively to analyze literature. Comprehension questions, copywork, and vocabulary study will enhance and improve understanding of each carefully selected piece of literature.

Geography – Students will have a firm grasp of the geographic areas that they are studying in Year One, which will include the Middle East, China, India, Italy and Greece. Both historical and modern day political maps will be studied and Internet games as well hands on activities will be used to reinforce all that is learned.

Fine Arts –Students will strengthen and enrich their understanding of the culture of the ancient peoples through a study of their art, music, drama, and activities. They will use carefully selected books, Internet sites, and fun hands-on projects.
